Will Louisville Water need to enter my home to confirm the type of service line I have?

Louisville Water is currently researching the materials that make up water service lines on the customer’s (private) side. Customer addresses have been chosen at random. Louisville Water will notify select customers with a postcard in the mail to schedule a time to check the service line. The entry point of the service line is typically located near the water shutoff valve or in the basement.

Note: Louisville Water typically never goes into the customer’s home. However, in order to comply with the EPA’s Lead and Copper Rule, Louisville Water has hired a contractor to determine the materials of the customer’s side of the service line.
