In order to provide water service, a working potable water source within 100 feet of the event location must be identified and tested. Acceptable water sources include hose spigots and ground vaults. Unacceptable options include irrigation lines, fire hydrants, and restrooms. The potable water source may not be adjacent to the location of a portable restroom or near a low-lying area or drainage ditch. When possible, the water source should be situated where hoses will not cross pedestrian walkways or roads open to motor vehicle traffic, though accommodations may be made in certain instances.
If you are unsure about the location of potable water sources at your event venue, check with the venue’s facilities staff. Louisville Water will also conduct a site visit in advance of the event to confirm that the source is acceptable. Louisville Water staff may suggest a better location for water service based on these guidelines. We reserve the right to discontinue event participation if a suitable location cannot be agreed upon.
