How do I know if my pipes are frozen?

  • Updated

It is common for pipes to freeze in temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Signs that your pipes are frozen include: a lack of running water or a very slow trickle from the faucets, unusual gurgling from pipes, visible frost on the pipe itself, bulging or cracked pipes, a foul smell coming from drains, or dampness/water marks on walls or ceilings near the pipes.

If you suspect frozen pipes, find your main water shutoff valve and turn off the water supply immediately. For more cold weather tips, visit LouisvilleWater.com/ColdWeatherTips.
