What should I do if my pipes freeze?

First, shut off your water using the main shutoff valve; usually located in a basement or lower level close to where the service line enters the home. Here are some tips on how to locate yours.

Then, turn on all of your faucets. This step is very important because what causes burst pipes is the buildup of pressure in the lines; opening the faucets will help release that pressure once the pipes thaw.
